Glenda Kay Helms, 76, of Isola, passed away on September 28th, 2025 at her home.
Kay was born on April 24, 1949, to Louis and Phyllis Theriot in Hammond, LA. Kay graduated from Hammond High School in 1967. Only the top 10 students were allowed to sit on the stage, and Kay was among them. After graduating from high school, she attended college to become a registered nurse. As a nurse, she worked as an RN for several hospitals and also served as a home health and hospice nurse. After battling health issues, Kay was forced to retire.
Kay met Reggie while they were both living in Omaha, Nebraska. They married in Belzoni on October 15, 1988. Their biggest joy was becoming parents to their son Christopher. Later, they moved to Brandon, MS, where they were very active at Crossgates Baptist Church. When they relocated to Belzoni, Kay joined Eastside Baptist Church, where she served on the Kitchen Committee, the Outreach Committee, the Bereavement Committee, and was a member of the WMU.
Kay loved worship music, sang in the church choir, and enjoyed drawing and painting. Kay was always very open about her love for her family and her love for God. She was a great listener and loved sharing her faith with others. Kay had a passion for missions. She visited Tunisia twice, and those trips brought her so much joy. Next to her love of God, she was proud to be Reggie's wife and Christopher's mom.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Louis E. Theriot and Phyllis Scott Theriot; a sister, Karen Sue Theriot; a brother, Terry Scott Theriot; her father-in-law, JV Helms; and her mother-in-law, Reba Helms. She is survived by her husband, Reggie, and her son Christopher.
Services will be held on Wednesday, October 1st, 2025, at Eastside Baptist Church in Belzoni. Visitation will start at 10, with services beginning at 11. Burial will be at the Caile Cemetery in Caile, MS.
