Kay M. (Leitow) Schneider was born in Saginaw on January 8, 1936, and passed away on December 7, 2025. Ernest C. Schneider, Kay’s beloved husband and soulmate of 62 years, predeceased her in 2018. Kay served as an elementary school teacher at St. Stephen Catholic School for more than 30 years. She was an alumnus of Central Michigan University and of Saginaw Valley State University. Students were dear to Kay’s heart. She was the recipient of the Crystal Apple Award for teaching by The Saginaw News. For Kay, music was central to life. She was a talented musician, with a career spanning more than 55 years. Kay served as a pianist and organist for St. Stephen Catholic Church, St. Dominic Catholic Church, Holy Family Catholic Church, and for Case Funeral Home. She was also a member of St. Dominic’s Choir and served as an accompanist for the Carrollton Middle School and High School choirs. Beyond music, she was an active member of Delta Zeta where she enjoyed meaningful relationships with her sorority sisters. Kay and Ernest were also proud members of the Germania Country Club where they developed many lasting and treasured friendships. Kay was predeceased by her parents, Otto C. and Grace M. (Benroth) Leitow, as well as a brother, Don O. Leitow. Kay is survived by two sons, Thomas C. Schneider and David E. (Deborah) Schneider; four grandchildren, Joshua A. (Samantha) Schneider, Brittany R. (Matthew) Chase, Jason E. Schneider, and Natalie Schneider (Skylar Koenitzer). She also leaves two great grandchildren, Delaney and Matthew Chase, Jr., and a sister-in-law, Mary (Schneider) McCarthy. Aunt Kay also leaves several cherished nieces and nephews from the Leitow family and from the Schneider family.

Funeral Liturgy will take place at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Saginaw at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2025. Friends and family may visit one hour prior to the service. The service will be officiated by Father Richard John. Family will also receive visitors on Friday, December 19, from 4-7 p.m. at W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Rd, Saginaw, MI 48603, with a parish vigil service to follow at 7 p.m.
