Kay Nell Yancey was born March 16th 1971 to Lawana Hillin Yancey and Floyd Eugene Yancey. She was reunited in glory with both of her parents and her brother Kenneth Yancey on October 25th 2025. As a new, young mother Kay was baptized at Roman Forest Baptist Church on Mother's Day in 1988.
Kay dedicated her life to making things beautiful. She had a creative spirit and was a talented floral designer for over 30 years. She took pride in her creative designs and she had a special talent for turning scraps into treasure. Kay also loved to be outdoors or out on the lake. Kay owned and operated a marina in Onalaska, Texas for several years where she enjoyed the lake life.
Kay also loved her friends and family deeply, she loved to visit and just talk. Kay never met a stranger and she knew everyone by name. Kay was thoughtful and loved to design gifts for people and took great pride and joy in giving to others. Her gifts always had a creative touch on them. Of all of the qualities God had gifted her with she had a heart that knew no strangers - just friends she hadn't met yet. God blessed her with a heart that recognized everyone as family. If she knew you, she called you a friend, if she called you a friend, she called you family. She saw people the way God does – each one worth knowing, remembering, and connecting with.
Of all the things Kay enjoyed most was her children and her grandchildren. She was a beloved Bebe to seven grandchildren and mother of three, all of which she cherished deeply. Kay is survived by children Kayla Skinner and husband, David; Dallas Drummond and fiance, Brittni; Brooke Gilliam, and husband Chris. Grandchildren: Tripp Skinner, Waylon Skinner, Wyatt Skinner, Paxton Drummond, Piper Drummond, CJ Gilliam, and Hallie Gilliam. She is also survived by countless cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Kay's journey through this life was not without its challenges, but in God's mercy every step led to grace. Kay found peace in God's forgiveness and love. She passed from this life with a renewed heart and a steadfast faith, resting in the assurance of God's promises. On October 25th 2025 Kay went home to be with Jesus, restored and at rest. Redeemed and at peace, Kay entered eternal rest, held in the arms of the One who never let go.
A private family ceremony will be held at a later date. The family asks for prayers and privacy as they grieve this tragic loss.
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
