Kaye McDearmon Mackey, age 64, of Blanket, Texas passed unexpectedly at her home on October 20, 2025. Kaye was born April 1, 1961 in Waco, Texas to Melvin and Roxie (Green) McDearmon. She earned a Bachelor's degree from Howard Payne University. Kaye married the love of her life, Randel 'Randy' Mackey on June 24, 1983 in Blanket and the two began their life together. Kaye worked for the United States Postal Service in Blanket where she also served as the postmaster relief. Kaye was accustomed to hard work and that prepared her well to help on the family dairy farm. She then transferred to the post office in Brownwood where she worked for 13 ½ before changing careers and investing her time and energy at Citizens National Bank for 27 years. Kaye had many interests and was an accomplished seamstress and leather worker. She designed beautiful leather bags and other unique items with her husband Randy. She enjoyed sewing all throughout her life, especially working with wool fabric. Kaye was an excellent seamstress, having made her wedding dress, Randy's suit and the rest of the clothing for the bridal party. She was very adept at figuring out ways to accomplish a task. She loved to keep things going from behind the scenes and never sought the spotlight. She was always an encourager and a supporter. Kaye had many "adopted" kids that she loved on through the years. She enjoyed hosting many Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners for family and friends -she especially loved having friends who didn't have another place to celebrate - and they became family. Kaye loved preparing the turkey and dressing for her church family every year along with leading and preparing crafts for VBS. She was a devoted member of Bethel Baptist Church in Zephyr and her faith was very important to her. Kaye also enjoyed quilting, hunting and traveling with her husband. She loved adventures including in recent years; ziplining off Sierra Blanca. Most of all, she loved Jesus, Randy, her family and friends, and her church family with her whole heart. Kaye is survived by her husband of over 42 years, Randy Mackey; other survivors include, Mike Mackey, Harriet Woods, Lisa and Wayne Morris, Lexie Jean Gunter, Lynn Gunter, Michael and Micki Gunter, Connie and Kevin Gunter, Jody and Jeremy Dalton, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Kaye was preceded in death by both of her parents; her grandparents; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Manuel and Judy Mackey; her sister-in-law, Mary Mackey. Memorial contributions in Kaye's name may be made to Good Samaritan Ministries in Brownwood, The Gideons International Ministries, Walker Cancer Center or a charity of your choice.
