Kaye Peele Obituary

Published by Legacy on Feb. 25, 2025.
Kaye Frances Peele went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on
February 19, 2025, at the age of 79. She was born on December 2, 1945, to Lowry and
Mildred Walker of Wake County. She attended Wilson's Mills High School and
graduated in 1964. While attending Wilson's Mills High School, Kaye played basketball
for the Wilson's Mills Green Waves team. She and the team captured the first
tournament title for the Johnston County Class A Conference in the 59-year history of
the school.
After high school, Kaye graduated from Hardbarger Junior College of
Business. She began her career working as a secretary at the North Carolina Attorney
General's Office. She then worked as a secretary for various law firms in Wake County
and also worked for a State House Representative. She later received her certification
as a Paralegal – Legal Assistant. Kaye served as a bookkeeper for Green Magnet
Elementary School in Raleigh. Afterward, she worked for and retired from the Wake
County Public School System main office building where she served in administration.
She married the love of her life, James "Jimmy" Edwin Peele in 1966 and shared a fun
and loving marriage with him for 48 years until he went on to be with the Lord. Kaye
also supported and helped Jimmy with his construction businesses Custom Woodworks
and Little Jobs.
Kaye enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed travelling,
gardening, playing cards and board games, assembling puzzles, making cards for
special occasions, and writing. Her all-time favorite snack was pecans. She was an
excellent cook, and her delicious home-cooked meals were cherished by her family and
friends. Kaye accepted Christ as her Savior on Easter Sunday in 1983. Afterward, she
had a big heart for telling others the Good News about Jesus. Kaye was a member of
First Baptist Church in Garner and served there for many years. She then became a
member and served at Bethesda Baptist Church in Clayton. Kaye was a strong prayer
warrior, selflessly praying and caring for the needs of others. She was a person of
strong determination and fought bravely through physical difficulties at the end of her
life. She is now with Jesus, Jimmy, and other family members who have gone on before
her.
Kaye was preceded in death by her parents Lowry and Mildred Walker, husband Jimmy
Peele, her brothers Allen and Phillip Walker, sister-in-law Doris Walker, and her nephew
