Kaye Jefferies Self

Kaye Jefferies Self, born on January 23, 1952, in Gastonia, North Carolina, passed away on April 25, 2024, in Gastonia at the age of 72. She was lovingly surrounded by her family as she went to be with Jesus.
Kaye, as she was affectionately known, was a woman of deep faith and devoted her life to her family and church. She was a dedicated educator, teaching elementary grades and serving as a literacy specialist for over 30 years. Her impact on her students and colleagues was immeasurable.
Family was at the center of Kaye's world. She cherished her husband, Michael Beaty Self, with whom she recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Kaye is survived by her loving husband, her children Tommy Self and Jill Self Hinson (Hoss Hinson), her grandchildren Kayleigh, Molly, Zoey Self, and Troy, Luci, Ivan Hinson, her mother Sarah Bowers Jefferies, her sister Frances Beavers, her brothers Tommy, Bill, and Joey Jefferies, as well as sisters-in-law, Debby Hill, and Pam Belk. She is preceded in death by her father, Troy Edward Jefferies.
In her leisure time, Kaye found joy in reading, swimming, and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren. Her warm smile and kind heart will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A service to celebrate Kaye's life will be held at Grace Baptist Church, 2200 Auten Rd., Gastonia, NC 28054, on Sunday, April 28, 2024. The service will be officiated by Pastor David MacEachern. The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm to 2:45 pm, followed by the funeral service from 3pm. The graveside service will be held Monday at 1pm at Gaston Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Grace Baptist Church Youth Ministry in honor of Kaye's memory. The Greene Funeral Service - South Chapel in Gastonia, NC 28052, is assisting the family with the funeral arrangements.
Kaye's legacy of love, faith, and dedication will forever be cherished by those whose lives she touched. May she rest in peace.
