Keaton Jack Westlake, age 15, of Bismarck, North Dakota, passed away on October 23, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer that began in December 2024.
Born on September 16, 2010, Keaton was a beautiful, blue-eyed soul whose kindness,
strength, and adventurous spirit touched everyone around him. He was loving, handsome, thoughtful, faithful, and always ready to lend a helping hand. Keaton had a deep love for the outdoors and a passion for all things motorized—especially anything with two wheels. He was a true motorhead, an avid hunter, and recently achieved a lifelong dream of harvesting a bull moose with his dad, made possible by The Outdoor Adventure Foundation out of Fargo, ND.
Keaton could often be found outside with his fur brother/side kick/roomate Winston and tinkering in the shop—either at home or with his best friend, Davis Vesey—helping with projects, working in the yard, or exploring the outdoors. He loved dirt biking, four-wheeling, riding his motorcycle, jet skiing, fishing, camping,
and relaxing around the campfire listening to his favorite ’90s country music. No matter what he faced, Keaton’s response was always, “I’m OK.” His courage and humility inspired everyone who knew him.
A student at Legacy High School, Keaton had just begun ninth grade after completing eighth grade earlier this year. This past summer, he proudly earned his motorcycle license and loved riding his Harley on the open road with his siblings and their friends. He enjoyed spending time with his best friend Davis and his girlfriend, Maddie Olsen, whether out on an adventure or sharing quiet movie nights together. His strong faith and the support of his church community, especially Wednesday nights in the youth room with Pastor Bob and friends, brought him comfort and joy throughout his journey.
Keaton is survived by his loving parents, Tyler and Lindsay Westlake; his brother, Carsen (girlfriend Lauryn Rydell); and his sister, Abby, dogs Winston and Waylon and cat Beatrice —all of Bismarck. He is also deeply missed by his grandparents, Chug and Sandy Westlake, and Lynn and Marlene Grabow all of Bismarck; uncles, aunts, and cousins Tanner and Amanda Westlake (and children Evelyn and Callum) of Bismarck, ND, Trevor and Abigail Westlake of Kalispell, MT, Dallas and Megan Grabow of Hines, MN, and Derek and Shelby Jilek (and children Colter and Rosie) of rural Dickinson, ND. Keaton’s girlfriend, Maddie Olsen of Lincoln, ND, and best friend, Davis Vesey of Bismarck, ND, also hold his memory close, along with countless friends and church family members who loved him dearly.
Keaton had so many dreams—he was eagerly awaiting the chance to drive his red Chevy pickup and continue his adventures. Though his time here was far too short, his strength, laughter, and light will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew him.
Our beautiful blue-eyed baby boy will forever be 15. We will love you always. Our adventures aren't done yet!
