Kegan John Edwards

Kegan John Edwards, 28, of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota passed away suddenly at his home from health complications on February 24, 2026. Kegan was born on June 9, 1997 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Glen and Carla Edwards. He was the eleventh of twelve children.

Kegan was outgoing, friendly, extremely intelligent, exuberant and witty. He had a love of jokes and laughter and loved to create mischief. We remember his energy, ambition, and penchant for asking questions and being curious about the world. He brought that out in his friends as well, and he was a fun person to be around. Kegan's nieces and nephews especially cherish memories of Kegan playing foosball, hockey, frisbee, and football with them. Kegan's mastermind devised a way to speed up the descent on the backyard Slip-n-Slide: a half bottle of dish detergent. The result? Clean kids and the bubbles turned it into a celebration! Rolling down the hill inside the rain barrel with Kegan was a thrill never to be forgotten. Once he got his driver's license, Kegan would pick up the kids for fun-filled fishing trips.

Kegan was blessed with a beautiful baritone singing voice and found great comfort in singing songs and hymns of Zion. His faith was an important part of his life. He treasured the time he spent in Humboldt, where he enjoyed the peacefulness of the forest, as well as lively games of volleyball, croquet, and bocce ball. He also loved fishing with his dad and relaxing at the beach.

As Kegan entered early adulthood, his curiosity led him to experiment with mind altering substances. As a side effect of these drugs, frequent hallucinations became a significant disruption in Kegan's life. Despite prescription medication and therapy in an attempt to restore some normalcy, mental illness unfortunately continued to control him. After a decade of prescription medications and declining mental wellness, Kegan's body could no longer sustain life.

Our love for Kegan is great. We are relieved that he is no longer suffering. We want to keep the memories of him before his illness in the forefront of our hearts.

Kegan is survived by his parents and his siblings: Alina Burke (Ryan), Benjamin Edwards (Evelyn), Cheston Edwards (Karmen), Deanna Simonson (Mitchell), Elissa Simonson (Josh), Farrah Greku (Tedd), Ginessa Barber (Levi), Heili Siljander (Cal), Iraina Shingledecker (Tom), Jorgen Edwards (Marissa), and Laila Edwards, as well as many nieces and nephews.
