Keith Frederick McCampbell, 79, passed away at home on August 20th, 2025. He was born in Wichita, KS on November 11th, 1945, as the only child of Frederick and Edna (Miller) McCampbell. He experienced a tumultuous early childhood that molded him into a protector, a provider, and someone who 'never met a stranger.' He attended Wichita East High School where he was very socially active as well as a member of the school choir and drama departments. East High is where he would meet the love of his life, best friend, and true companion, Sharon Kay (Stearns) McCampbell.

Keith enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve straight out of high school, completing Basic Training and Combat Engineer Advanced Individual Training at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. follow-on training at the U.S. Army Airborne School at Fort Benning, GA, and assignment with the 12th Special Forces Group (Airborne), completing 9 years of honorable Service to our Nation. Keith attended Wichita State University focusing on History and Political Science and later married Sharon. With his best friend by his side, Keith delved into many professional opportunities, finding his stride in the world of sales and over 20 years in the auto sales industry. He and Sharon found and shared a love for sailing as well as a love for exploring new places together. Keith's favorite place was always with Sharon, and together they would meet every challenge head-on with support for each other and their sons. Whether he lived in Kansas, Washington D.C., Texas, or Utah Keith always found great adventures and provided for his family as Sharon always found a way to make home truly where the heart is. While he was very engaged in his work, Keith found a way to be involved with his sons' interests as he attended their sporting and school events and eventually regularly volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America. He supported Sharon as she worked with BSA, youth soccer groups, youth hockey groups, and supported her sons and their friends and teammates in their academic, athletic, and life endeavors. Keith's love of sailing led him to take a highly active role in various sailing organizations in both Kansas and Texas and eventually volunteering with the Sea Scouts. He became regularly active with Boy Scouts, completing the highly respected Wood Badge training and was recognized by the boys and his peers with induction into the Order of the Arrow. After Sharon's passing in 2019 Keith remained active in the local YMCA Swim aquatics classes and eventually moved to Virginia to live with his oldest son and his family, enjoying more time with his grandchildren.

Keith is preceded in death by his best friend and loving wife, Sharon Kay (Stearns) McCampbell, and his parents, Frederick and Edna (Miller) McCampbell. He is survived by his two sons, Cameron A. McCampbell of Stafford, VA, and Trevor K. McCampbell of Carolina Beach, NC; Cameron's wife, Christine McCampbell; Trevor's partner, Ashley Crockett; and his grandchildren, Connor A., and Cennagh A. McCampbell, along with Cennagh's partner, Edgar Falla. Each of them held a special place in Keith's heart, and he cherished the love and joy they brought into his life.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Old Mission Mortuary on Friday, September 26th, 2025, at 11:00a.m. followed by military honors graveside.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to either the American Red Cross or the American Liver Foundation
