Keith Amundson Obituary

Visit the Patton Funeral Home and Cremation Service - Blue Earth website to view the full obituary.

Keith Daniel Amundson was born on October 17, 1977, eleven minutes after his mother arrived at the hospital. By rights, this would turn out to be a fitting entrance for a personality that was always in motion. He grew up in the Frost area, graduating from Blue Earth Area High School in 1996.

Keith worked various jobs, always centered around his lifelong passion for driving big trucks and operating heavy equipment. He spent quite a few summers in Alaska, excavating at the gold mines. When he was home, it was not unusual to see the lights on in his garage, and neighbors commented it sounded like a blacksmith shop late into the night as he processed scrap objects into items of value. Indeed, he was always interested in leftovers from estate sales and wasn’t afraid to jump in a dumpster to rescue abandoned possessions. He had an uncanny ability to see potential in discarded materials and the creativity to somehow remanufacture these things into custom components or performance parts. Eventually, he achieved his dream of self-employment after purchasing an old road grader to blade township roads, allowing him to set his own schedule.

Keith loved his family and he loved powersports, so naturally he combined the two. Keith was responsible for many first rides for local kids, including his nieces and nephews, on his four-wheeler, golf cart, snowmobile, motorcycle, and eventually his motorized scooter.

Keith was diagnosed with Multiple System Atrophy in his mid-40s, and for 5+ years he battled the disease, displaying courage and strength as he defied the physical pain and limitations of his failing body.

The community will miss Keith. Tires will have to go without white lettering, senior citizens’ lawns will go un-mowed, and there will be one less person who we know was always ready to answer a call for help.

Keith passed away on February 16, 2026, at his home in Frost. Keith is survived by his fiancée, Nina. Together they enjoyed taking cruises to the Caribbean Islands. Remaining in his home was a source of pride for him, and this was made possible by countless hours of Nina’s gracious care. They loved with a love that was more than love.

His memory will be cherished by his fiancée, Nina Blondin, and her family; his mother, Rennie Amundson (Bob Marsh); his son, Kemper Amundson; his siblings, Amy Benn, Aly (Lee) Lincoln and Ayrica (Caleb) Franke; his nephews, Ashton Lloyd and Lewis Lincoln; his nieces, Sadie Franke and Sigri Lincoln; his grandmother, Connie Wrase; along with aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.

Keith was preceded in death by his stepfather, Derek Wrase; his uncle, Danny Amundson; and his maternal grandparents, Darwin “Pete” and Ramona Amundson.

Keith will be buried near his family in a private service at Dell Lutheran Church Cemetery in rural Frost.

A celebration of life to honor Keith will take place on Sunday, March 15, 2026 from 1:30-4:30PM at Julie’s Bar & Grill in Frost.
