Keith was born November 13, 1935, to Glenn Wesley and Gladys (Cooper) Russell in St. John, Kansas. Later, Keith and his parents, along with two brothers and one sister, moved to Elizabeth, Colorado. He graduated from Elizabeth High School on May 14, 1954. Keith then joined the military and proudly served as Navy Seal EN-3 from 1954 to 1958.
He married Bonita "Bonnie" J. Reynolds on July 16, 1971. Together they welcomed one daughter, Michelle.
A reliable and hard-working man, Keith dedicated thirty years working for Colorado Kenworth, before his retirement. He remained living in Elizabeth until October 2024 when he relocated to Scottsbluff with his daughter, Michelle and her husband, Jeff, along with his granddaughter, Amanda and great-granddaughter, Athena.
Keith enjoyed sitting on the decks with his beloved dogs on his lap "supervising" yard work and projects. He liked helping with design and watching dreams turn into reality. Watching the cows in the pasture or the alfalfa being cut and baled were some of his simple pleasures. Keith also enjoyed attending car races and listening to country music. He cherished time watching his precious great-granddaughter play and loved his family and friends.
Survivors include his daughter, Michelle (Jeff) Kloppenborg-Riha; honorary daughter, Tracy Kammerzell of Northglenn, CO; four grandchildren, Amy (Scott) Ouellete of Centennial, CO, Amanda Robertson of Scottsbluff, Allison Pennington of Charleston, WY, and Tyler (Alyssa) Kloppenborg of Burwell, NE; brother, James "Jim" Russell of Kiowa, CO; sister, Phyllis Tannin of Franktown, CO; great-grandchildren, Freya, Khloee, Tyler, Harper, Kaleb, Wyatt, Athena, Walker, and Aspen; plus numerous nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends.
