Keith Lora Dalrymple 87, of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, passed away at his home following an illness on May 9, 2025.
Keith was born in Addison, New York on February 7, 1938 to Alfred and Marion (Morton-Kent) Dalrymple. He was married to Diane Y Sheaffer on July 5, 1980. Keith had two children, Mark Owen and Lisa Jo from a former marriage.
Keith graduated from Addison Central School and Mansfield University before serving in the United States Air Force from 1957 to 1959. He worked for several years for his father before starting as a Management Trainee at an Independent Bank in Addison, New York in 1967. In 1980, Keith became President and Chief Executive Officer of the First National Bank in Addison, New York where he successfully managed the growth of the bank.
Keith met the woman of his dreams, Diane Sheaffer, in New York City at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel while attending the Annual Midwinter Meeting of the New York State Bankers Association in January, 1980. After meeting, they had dinner at the Tavern on the Green in New York City's Central Park. They were married on July 5th that same year and moved to Upstate New York.
In 1988, Keith merged the First National Bank of Addison with other banks owned by the Community Bank System, a Multi-Bank Holding Company located in DeWitt, New York. He became the Director and Executive Vice President of the Holding Company which owned four other independently chartered banks in New York State.
In 1991, Keith became Vice President of a nationwide bank computer software company, the Kirchman Corporation located in Orlando, Florida. A year later he was asked to relocate to Harrisburg, PA to become President and Chief Executive Officer of the Dauphin National Bank, renamed Vartan National Bank, to manage another turnaround to save the bank from financial collapse.
Keith served as Chairman of the Legislative & Regulatory Committee of the Pennsylvania Independent Bankers Association, Director of the Federal Home Loan Bank Board in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and the Legislative Chairman of the Pennsylvania Association of Community Bankers. In 1995, he became President of the American Association of Bank Directors in Washington, DC. Keith left a remarkable impression on the banking industry!
Keith was preceded in death by his wife Diane (Sheaffer) Dalrymple, his son Mark Owen Dalrymple, his father and mother Alfred and Marion (Morton-Kent) Dalrymple, his half-brothers Fordyce C Murray (Purple Heart and Silver Star recipient of WWII), NYS Game Warden Bernard A Murray and his wife Arlene H (Omelion), NYS Forest Ranger Raymond L Murray and his wife Alma E (Riebsaman), and his half-sisters Alberta P (Murray) and her husband Charles Cuda, and Arita Dorothy (Murray) and her husband James Buchanan as well as his half-niece, Debra (Cuda).

Woodhull, New York at a later date. Since Keith was an animal lover (as long as they were not in his house) and being a proud veteran, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Finger Lakes SPCA or the
Wounded Warrior Project.
Family correspondence may be directed to Keith's daughter, Lisa Jones, 113 ½ Coleman St. Olean, NY 14760.
The Dalrymple Family is being served by the H.P. Smith & Son Funeral Home in
