Keith Darrough Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home - Flint on Jan. 14, 2025.
DARROUGH, Deacon Keith - Age 66, passed away Monday, January 13, 2025, at his residence. Family hour 10:30 AM Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Grace Cathedral Community Church, 1709 Nebraska Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Pastor Adrian Davis, Eulogist, Pastor Dennis Powell, officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the church 10:30 AM Saturday. Deacon Darrough will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Friday with family present from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM to receive friends. Deacon Keith Darrough was born on March 24, 1958, in Flint, Michigan, the son of Roosevelt and Mary (Segrest) Darrough. Keith was a dedicated husband, father, and friend. Keith accepted Christ at an early age, and with the ease one finds in absolute faith shared his love of Christ with family, friends and community. He served his Christian family in varied capacities: Gospel Singer, Choir Director, Trustee, Deacon and member at large available as needed from maintenance and janitorial duties to Bible Study Teacher to Pastor's Advisor. Keith had strong ties to First Union Baptist Church and Ebenezer Ministries. His most recent service was as Deacon for Grace Cathedral Community Church, where he was a member for 10 years. Keith graduated from Flint Northern High School, "Class of 1976" and soon after began his long career in the automotive industry. Primarily in the employment of AC Spark Plug-Delphi Automotive Systems and under the sponsorship of the same, he completed the mandatory 8,000 hour on-the-job-training along with required classroom course work to fulfill his goal of becoming a Skilled Trade Journeyman. Keith was always in pursuit of the next goal and for many years dreamed of establishing a business that would satisfy his entrepreneurial spirit. That dream came true in 1996 when he established The Source Total Fitness Center in the Hallwood Plaza. The fitness center was the perfect vehicle for Keith to combine his passion for competitive body building and love for promoting health and fitness in his community. In his role as local business owner, he was a recipient of the "Michigan Best Small Business" award from the Michigan Small Business Center at Wayne State University. Keith was well known as one of Flint's best personal trainers, and his work outs were not for the faint of heart. But, true to form his next pursuit was that of Massage Therapist. He received his certification from the Flint School of Therapeutic Massage with training in multiple methodologies. Thus, after a brutal workout, he was kind enough to offer a therapeutic massage. Above all Keith was always striving to be his best, to honor relationships and to reflect and glorify God in all his ways. He has accomplished his most sacred goal, he has finished his race, and he will be profoundly missed. Deacon Keith Darrough leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Lorna Darrough of Mt. Morris MI; son, Keith Darrough II; 2 step-children, Kayla (Michael) Wilson and Stanley Latham III; grandchildren, Maasai Wilson, Vela Latham and Siale Latham, all of Flint; 2 sisters, Johnnie Mae Etherly of Flint and Arlene Brooks of San Antonio, FL; 2 brothers, Kelvin (Andrea) Darrough of Homestead, FL and Roger Hill of Jacksonville, FL; 9 nieces; 8 nephews; 2 aunts, Arnette Mabry of Flint, MI and Valorie Darrough of Mississippi; 4 uncles, Joe (Alberta) Williams, Freddie (Jessie) Darrough and Barnett Love all of Flint; 3 sisters-in-law; 4 brothers-in-law; a host of other relatives and friends. Keith was preceded in death by his parents, Roosevelt and Mary (Segrest) Darrough; sister, Lottie Segrest; and brother, Leon Lewis. The family would like to express special thanks to Pastor Adrian Davis and Grace Cathedral Community Church, Pastor Danny Green and First Union Baptist Church, Pastor Michael Lewis, Pastor Dennis Powell and the Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home.
