Keith H. “Herm” Maaske, age 91, of Arapahoe, Nebraska, passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at his home. He was born in Oxford, Nebraska on July 23, 1932, to Emmett and Ella (Heller) Maaske.
He was baptized on August 14, in Oxford. He was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Wendland on December 4, 1950. He would work for K-N Energy for many years while living in Beaver City before moving to the farm north of Arapahoe. He was active in many activities while living in Beaver City. He helped start the Jaycees, was a Boy Scout and 4-H leader, and worked with the Furnas County Fair Rodeo building bucking chutes. He was outstanding Jaycee leader of the year and was a volunteer fireman in Beaver City. After moving to Arapahoe, he was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe and was always willing to help usher.
He is survived by his wife Barbara “Bobbi” Maaske of Arapahoe, sons Marty (Janet) Maaske of Holbrook, Nebraska, Rob (Natalie) Maaske of Culbertson, Nebraska, Jim (Susan) Maaske of Arapahoe, Nebraska, and daughter Paula (Roger) Hinz of Arapahoe, Nebraska. 15 Grandchildren and 37 Great-Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Grandchild.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Kenneth & Cleetus, sister Carol, grandson Joshua Cody Maaske, granddaughter Ketra Vlasin, and Father and Mother-In-Law Martin "Pete" & Dora Wendland.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2024, from 5 PM till 7 pm at Garey Funeral Chapel, 652 Main Street, Arapahoe, Nebraska. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024, at 10:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, Arapahoe, Nebraska, with the Rev. James Moshier, officiating. The service will also be live streamed on Trinity Lutheran Church’s Facebook page. Interment will be held at the Immanuel Cemetery, Arapahoe, Nebraska following the service. Garey Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Condolences or personal reflections may be left at gareyfuneralhome.com Memorials may be given in his name and will be designated at a later date.
