Keith Alan Murphy, age 72, of Mt. Vernon, IN passed away on March 6, 2026, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital. He was born January 23, 1954, in Evansville to the late Joseph "Joe" L. Jr., and Lily "Glo" (Wagner) Murphy.

Keith graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1972. He began his career at GE Plastics in 1974 and later earned a Technical Certificate in Electrical Engineering in 1990. After 40 years of dedicated service, Keith retired in 2014.

He was a life member of the Mt. Vernon Conservation Club and also a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post #5. In 1990, Keith earned his pilot's license and greatly enjoyed flying. In his free time, Keith enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, and especially golfing.

Keith was a great man and loved by everyone. He will truly be missed and was taken far too soon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife 39 years, Jennifer Lynn (Newman) Murphy; brothers, Jeffrey Murphy and Barry Murphy; sister, Cathy Murphy.

Keith is survived by his children, Tawana (Duane) Cox and Eric (Liz) Murphy; grandsons, Trevor Cox and Hunter (Maddie) Murphy; and his longtime partner, Julie Deikman.

Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, March 12, 2026 at Schneider Funeral Home, 512 Main St., Mt. Vernon, IN with Pastor Bryan Thompson and Pastor Dallas Robinson officiating and burial to follow in Bellefontaine Cemetery.
