It is with profound sorrow and a deep sense of loss that we announce the passing of Keith Dearl Posey, who left us peacefully on May 21, 2024, in
Kingsland, Texas. Born on February 19, 1957, in
Fort Stockton, Texas, Keith's journey through life was marked by dedication, compassion, and an unwavering love for his family. He was a man of integrity and joy, whose presence enriched the lives of all who knew him.
Keith's early life was steeped in the values of his hometown, where his character was shaped under the loving guidance of his parents, Huey and Delvyne Posey. Though they, along with his son Matthew Posey and nephew John Posey, preceded him in death, the strength and love they instilled in Keith remained a guiding force throughout his life.
A pillar of his community, Keith was a proud graduate of Fort Stockton High School. His commitment to service was evident early on when he joined the police academy, a decision that set him on a path of public service and protection of others. His dedication to his career was unwavering, even as he continued his education, earning a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from St. Edward's University.
Keith's heart was truly at home, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his devoted sons, Casey Posey (Danielle), Garrett Posey (Krislyn), and Dillon Posey (Whitney), His sister Karen Posey Shaddox (Trey) and brother Dell Posey (Stephanie) and numerous nephews and nieces. His role as a father was one, he cherished above all, instilling in his sons the same values of kindness, perseverance, and love that he himself lived by. Keith's joy multiplied with the arrival of each grandchild, and he leaves behind a beautiful legacy in Brodey Shoopman, Caden Posey, Frances Posey, Mason Posey, Luke Posey, Preston Posey, Layla Posey, Leo Posey, Jolie Posey, Dax Posey, Rylee Rivas, Jace Posey, Kynley Posey, and Hartlin Matthew Posey.
Beyond his family, Keith had a passion for the natural world. He enjoyed gardening and found solace and joy in tending to his plants and watching them grow. Keith's compassion extended beyond the human realm; he was a friend to all creatures, providing for any stray animal that wandered into his life. His kindness was boundless, and his legacy of love and care for the vulnerable will not be forgotten.
As we bid farewell to Keith, we remember a man whose life was a tapestry of love, service, and simple joys. His laughter, his wisdom, and his gentle spirit will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. Though he has left this earthly realm, the memories of his unwavering love and the example he set as a father, grandfather, and friend will continue to inspire and guide us.
