Keith Arvel Schulz, age 89, passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 12, 2025. Born on July 18, 1936, he was known for his strong work ethic, fun-loving spirit, and loyalty to family and friends. Keith was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Peggy Beth Schulz, his father, Rudolph Richard Schulz, his mother, Myrtle Eva Schulz, and his brothers, Maurice Edward Schulz and Marvin Elwood Schulz. Keith is survived by his daughters Debbie Meinke (Rick) and Cindy Hayden (Tommy); grandchildren Tommy Hayden (Amy), Brittany Dimitric (Darko), Robert Meinke (Emily), Katherine Meinke, Christopher Meinke (Addie), and Garrett Hayden; and his great-grandchildren Madyson, Jonathan, Nikolas, Ashlyn, Ella, Taylor, Hunter, Caleb, and Isaac. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Joan Schulz, brother-in-law, Mike Sherbondy (Gail), and many other loving family members and lifelong friends. Keith graduated from Harlandale High School in 1954 in San Antonio, Texas. He married Peggy Sherbondy on November 17, 1956, and they built a loving family together. They would have celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary this year. Keith began his electrician's apprenticeship program shortly after high school graduation. He worked for more than 40 years as an electrician, and he was a 69-year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He served IBEW Local Union No. 60 in various capacities. He was a general foreman on many projects – the Alamodome, Airport Expansion Terminal 2, and Kelly AFB to mention just a few. He also served as an appointee to the Electrical Examining and Supervisory Board for the City of San Antonio. Keith's fun side included RV camping, theme park roller coasters, and travel adventures with Peggy to such far away locations as Canada, the Mediterranean coast, and a 3-week excursion to Australia where they met Peggy's longtime pen pal and her family. Keith loved being a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed being around the big, boisterous group which descended on their home on a regular basis. You could always count on a huge breakfast and barbeque ribs, and lots of noise and splashing around their pool. After retiring, Keith spent many hours woodworking in his garage. He enjoyed making toys, pens, stained glass, bird houses, churches, and furniture. He loved food and enjoyed meeting friends for lunch at various places around town. He also volunteered for projects around their church, The Fellowship of San Antonio. Keith will be missed by his family and friends, but his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. On Saturday, August 23, 2025 Visitation will begin at 12:00 followed by the Service at 1:00 P.M. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North, 3401 Cherry Ridge Drive. Interment Service will follow at Mission Retama Cemetery, 15940 Lookout Road.
