Dad was born August 22nd 1926 to Father Cornelius Gerardus Josephus Maria van der Velden and Mother Maria Bernardina Joanna van Reil
Dad ( Cornelius " Keith" Vandervelden married Antoinette (Nettie) Maria Stevens on November 22. 1951They both emigrated to Canada in April 1953, then to the USA 1959.
Dad went to the University in Delft Netherlands and became and Electrical Engineer and secured many patents for the various companies he worked for through his career.
My parents left Holland due to not being able to find a place to live. They emigrated to Canada and stayed with friends. They lived first in Montreal then Ottawa Canada. Later dad's job to us to Boston, Framingham Massachusetts, Long Island, NY. Chicago Illinois, Kansas City, Mo. Oakland Ca, Salt Lake City Utah then Summerville SC then retirement.
He retired in the 1980s and continued to do consultant work when asked to fix equipment or others inventions that they couldn't get to work properly.
His hobbies included music, car races and airplanes. He loved the outdoors and went camping when he could. He suffered a car accident in 1963 and decided to build a car from scratch to rehabilitate and challenge himself. He named the car Cassowary after the fast bird. It was regular car to drive daily until he sold it in California.
My parents were divorced in 1974 and dad moved on to California, Utah and Summerville SC finally retiring and moving to Holland in the 90's only to return to the Summerville, SC in the early 2000's. In 2016 he moved to KCMO in Brookdale assisted living and then to the home of his daughter Irene Dean and partner Terry Stanley in Theodosia where he resided until he fell ill and passed away.
He is preceded in death by his parents,

Several great nieces and nephews in Holland and Canada,
Dad also leaves behind Louise "Louki" van Hesselt with whom he lived with in Summerville SC and Holland, they remained close until his death.
Dad had a lifelong friend Daan Verwilligen that he started elementary school and continued through graduation and stayed close to all his life until in death in 2016.
He also is preceded by Joanne Alexander, a companion from Summerville.
