Kelli Jo (Guthrie) Morris passed away at her home in Conroe, Texas on Sunday, July 20th, 2025 at the age of 38. She was born on May 22, 1987 to her proud parents, Don Guthrie and Rhonda (Loyd) Guthrie in Houston, Texas where she became the fourth of five children. Her older siblings were Tara, Chris, and Bryan; and her younger sister was Katie.
Kelli loved music and she was blessed with a wonderful voice and was active in the choir at Klein Collins High School. Her most memorable experiences in choir were a performance at St Patrick's Cathedral in New York City and also performing under the direction of Craig Jessup, who was the conductor for the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square; the leading choir of her religious faith.
Kelli loved life and adventure. She became interested at an early age in girls fast pitch and eventually played fast pitch softball at Klein Collins High School. She made trips to Little Sahara in Oklahoma where she became proficient in the art of racing four wheelers. She
loved boating trips at the lake with her friends while the dads blasted 70's music and the girls took turns riding on the innertube in a routine that friends and family referred to as the 'circle of death.' She spent her adult years making up for a deprived childhood by attending every Backstreet Boys concert humanly possible, because she was cruelly denied her joy of screaming "I want it that way" when the song was released in 1999. Kelli was a graduate of Klein Collins High School and she later earned a bachelor's degree in nursing at Lone Star College. Kelli always valued other people and found a calling in a career that allowed her to turn that value into practice. She practiced nursing throughout the rest of her life.
At the age of 13, Kelli was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. That diagnosis would profoundly affect the rest of her life. She was able to attend summer camps for diabetic children where she built relationships with others who were suffering from diabetes.
Kelli was raised a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and over her lifetime she was a devoted follower of our Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a graduate of seminary, a four year early-morning scripture study course. Kelli became a lifelong servant to others and to her Savior. As she passed last Sunday, she earned another graduate degree, having 'finished her course' and 'kept the faith.'
Kelli met Ryan Alvin Morris at a Single's Ward Congregation and they were married in the Houston, Texas Temple on May 14, 2010. The two of them enjoyed trips to the deer hunting lease where many members of her family came together to share tall tales of sighting that elusive buck who came to be known as 'Muy Grande.' She loved cruising and much of her life was spent planning the next adventure on the high seas. She loved Christmas and had many spirited discussions within the family about the appropriate time-frame for decorating. Kelli believed it was fine to start at approximately 12:01AM on November 1st. The family does not wish to continue that discussion at this time.
Most of all, Kelli loved her dear friends and family. She was passionate about family gatherings where lively conversation would flow – often at high decibels. She loved everyone. Little children seemed to gravitate to her infectious smile. There were competitions to see which little child would sit with her in church.
Kelli gave birth to her firstborn son Hunter Ryan Morris on April 5th, 2012. Hunter was born sleeping and we are grateful he and Kelli are now reunited. She later gave birth to Bryson Hunter Morris in 2013, and finally Dylan David Morris in 2014. Her life was consumed with her boys. She was a wonderful mother and dedicated her whole self to her children.
After a lifelong battle with diabetes her mortal body was finally worn out. Her beautiful soul was called home.
She will be laid to rest at the Klein Memorial Park cemetery near the final resting place of her beloved Hunter.
She is survived by her husband Ryan Morris, children Bryson Morris and Dylan Morris, her parents Don and Rhonda Guthrie, sisters Tara & Bryan Braddock and Katie & Gregg Lyons, brothers Chris Guthrie and Bryan & Laura Guthrie, nieces Taylor & Cody Alexander and Macy Braddock and Elise and Emily Guthrie, nephews Brad & Callie Braddock and Austin and Emmett Guthrie and Cooper Lyons. She is preceded in death by her son Hunter Morris.
