Kelly Lavell Green, age 48, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 18, 2024, surrounded by her family at the University of Louisville Hospital. Kelly was born in Louisville on May 8, 1976, to her parents, Eldridge and Berrenda Green.
At an early age, Kelly became a Highland Park Missionary Baptist Church member, actively participating in youth activities and singing in the youth choir. After graduating from Waggener High School, she worked in the medical field, with her last position as a medical assistant at the Office for Children with Special Health Care Needs.
Kelly had a magnetic personality and a beautiful soul who devoted her life to loving and caring for her children and her family. Kelly was always a joy to be around and loved sharing her artistic ability as the “family hairdresser.”
She was preceded in death by her mother, Berrenda Green; her sister, Margaret (Marty) Green; her grandmothers, Helen Green, Margaret Hanley, Kathleen Logan and her grandfathers, Eldridge Green, Sr., Ben Hanley, and Robert Logan.
Kelly is survived by her parents, Eldridge and Marsha; daughter, Berrenda (BeBe) Rushin; her son, Ismial (Izzy) Rushin; bonus daughter, Leondra Rushin; her sister, Shanika (Daute) Holt; her brother, Leland Green and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A memorial gathering for Kelly will be Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Highland Park Missionary Baptist Church (3700 Shanks Lane, Louisville, KY 40216) from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with a celebration of life service to follow at noon.
