With great sadness the Yeager family announces the passing of Kelly Hal Yeager of Olathe Colorado. The world was blessed on March 14th, 1950 in
Longmont, Colorado when he was born to Hal and Helen Yeager. From the very beginning Kelly embodied the values that would define his life: loving, loyal, down-to-earth, kind, resilient, faithful, and hardworking.
Kelly spent his life doing what he treasured the most, loving his wife Sheryl Yeager (Waldo) and his three sons, raising sheep, growing hay and tending the land. His career began after he graduated from Colorado State University in 1972. In addition to farming and ranching, he worked proudly for both Rio Grande and Delta Counties, helping others and solving any problems that came his way. Kelly and Sheryl's exploits took them to Colorado, Idaho, California, Montana, and Washington; they settled in the Western Slope of Colorado for the last thirty years, a region he and Sheryl always cherished.
Above all else, Kelly's commitment to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, was the bedrock for his life and character. He was a steadfast, kind man who always had time for those he cared about. He was known for his devotion and deep love for Sheryl "Sweetie", no task was too big if they were side by side. Kelly had a way of making you feel like you could do anything – he believed in us even when we doubted ourselves. His belief and encouragement gave us courage, and we will carry that with us forever.
His granddaughter recalls when she first began college she received a call from him. When she answered he began to very seriously tell her that if she ever came across any problems or needed help that he should be her first call. That was who Kelly was, never too busy, never too tired, always ready to help. Dad's consistent reminder to all of us till the end was that if we ever needed any help, just call him.
Kelly's love for agriculture, both cattle and sheep, was not just a career but a calling. His legacy of hard work, humility, and devotion to others will live on through his loving family, who continue to be inspired by the life he lived so fully and faithfully.
He is survived by his wife, Sheryl Yeager; sons Hal (Tamra), Jason (Sarah), and Brad (Stephanie); his grandchildren, Moise, Wynn, Micah, Calum, Caleb, Joshua, Anna, Alexis, Madison, Margot, and Lukas; His great-grandchild, Calvin.
