Ken Kopiske Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brettschneider-Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel & Crematory - Appleton on Nov. 24, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Ken passed away unexpectedly on Thurs. Nov 20, 2025. He was born on May 26, 1969 in Appleton to Ken E. Kopiske Jr and Isabelle Evers.

After graduating from Appleton West, Ken attended post-secondary education toward a career in natural resources. Although this is not where his career path led, this passion would take him on many adventures, create lifelong friendships and provide immeasurable peace and joy throughout his life.

Ken was a renaissance man. A gentle soul with a kind thought and word for everyone. He was a seeker of knowledge-always learning, a voracious reader and crossword puzzle aficionado. His love of hunting and fishing was known by all. Ken was a master fish fryer and appreciated a good bonfire.

He loved music, especially live and local. Recently, to his chagrin, had to admit he had become a 'birder'. Ken always looked forward to the Flag Day Parade and family gatherings at the house on State St. and enjoyed any time spent with family friends.

Every spring for 40 years, Ken's Christmas would arrive in the form of a week-long trip to Lac la Belle in the UP with 'the guys'. He enjoyed cataloging each year's events in pictures. The fish, the laughs and the stories are too numerous to count.

Ken took pride in a job well done. He had fond memories of his earliest days as an altar boy at St. Mary's and St. Joseph's Parishes, to Sentry Foods, Gander Mountain and more recently the boiler house at WMHI. He approached every task with a curiosity and investment, enjoyed training new staff and sharing his expertise.

More than hunting and fishing, Ken loved his two daughters: Karissa and Aubrey. He was thrilled to share his love of sports and hunting with Karissa and affinity for music and movies with Aubrey. They are a source of immense pride and joy and loves them endlessly.

He is survived by his beautiful daughters: Karissa and Aubrey; his mother, Isabelle; brothers: Tim (Shirley) Kopiske, Tom (Linda) Kopiske and Mike (Tina) Kopiske; his love and life partner, Lynn O'Shasky and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding Ken on his path to peace and light are his father, Ken Sr.; sister, Maureen (Donnie) Reinert.

A Memorial Service for Ken will take place at 11 AM, Friday, Nov. 28, 2025 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Appleton. Friends may visit directly at the church from 9 - 11 AM.

Ken's peace on earth came in a deer stand or in his boat, aptly named Happiness. His life is a reminder that the best things in life involve curiosity and kindness, family, friends and nature.
