Ken Maynard Ladd, age 90 of Kernersville, NC, died on Thursday, October 2, 2025.

He was born on Vengeance Creek (Marble), NC on April 8, 1935, to Max and Lena Lunsford Ladd. Ken was a proud member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians and loved to share that he was born on Indian land.

He had a rich childhood and was fortunate enough to grow up in an extraordinarily close family. Ken made it a point to maintain that closeness throughout his life. His career in sales provided him with the opportunity to make friends with people from all walks of life, and he made a lasting impression on them. He had a true knack as a storyteller, and he delighted in entertaining others with his many colorful tales. Ken never met a stranger, and oftentimes chance encounters would turn into lifelong friendships. Those who knew Ken knew him to be the most generous of people who truly loved to give to others.

Ken and his wife, Jean, were members of Main Street United Methodist Church in Kernersville, NC. He and Jean had an enduring marriage of 69 years and had two daughters. Ken was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be sorely missed by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents and his second daughter, Judith.

He is survived by his wife, Shelby Jean Lovingood Ladd; his daughter, Leta Petroff; and two grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at Valleytown Cemetery in Andrews, NC, at 11 AM on Monday, October 6, 2025.
