Kendrell Maurice Blackshear, affectionately known as Drelly from Bath, NC, was born on October 2, 1988, to John Blackshear and the late Roberta Carter. He passed away peacefully at home on January 11, 2025.
Drelly was a proud alumnus of Northside High School. He was known for his fun-loving and outgoing personality, with a passion for rap music. He found love in Felicia Bonner and embraced her daughter, Shakira, as his own.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Roberta Carter, and three grandfathers: James Carter, Richard Williams, and Hubert Jennings.
Drelly leaves behind to cherished his memories two children, Sincere Hopkins and Kaleyah Hopkins of Bath, NC; his father, John Blackshear of New York; a brother, Kamron Laspine of Bath, NC; a step-sister, Shadaya Freeman of New York; two grandmothers, Joyce Williams of Bath, NC, and Emma Jennings of New York; seven uncles, including Marcus Jennings, Frankie Jennings, Lance Jennings, Chris Jennings, Daquan Jennings, Peter Jennings, and Rya Jennings from New York, as well as James Carter from Kinston, NY; and seven aunts: Linda (Matthew) Moore of Bath, NC, Jane McCoy of Riverhead, NY, Eunice Carter of the home, along with Rebecca, Ruthie, Valorie, and Brianna from New York. He is also remembered by close friends Bay Bay, Free, PeeWee, and Newz, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Rest peacefully, Drelly. We love you, but God loves you best.
