Kenia Torrens

Kenia Mercedes Torrens, a resident of Alexandria, Virginia, passed away on September 1, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on December 27, 1975, in the Dominican Republic, to Guillermina Torrens and the late Domingo Torrens. Kenia was the beloved wife of Carlos Jaime and a devoted mother to Christopher, Sophia, and Isaiah. She moved with her parents to Manhattan, New York, where she later earned an Associate of Arts in Accounting from Manhattan Community College. After marrying her husband, she followed him as he was stationed in different locations, moving from Maryland to South New Jersey and finally to Virginia. Kenia left her job with Weitz and Luxenberg, PC in New York to be with her husband. She went on to work as a lunch monitor at Seven Oaks Elementary School, as a contractor for the New Jersey State Insurance, and as a student monitor for the Fairfax County Public Schools District. Kenia had a passion for dining out, finding fashionable clothes at a bargain, and traveling. She was known as the kindest person you could ever meet and would often go out of her way to help others. Despite her immense generosity, she was also a quiet and reserved person. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution in Kenia's memory to the American Cancer Society.
