Kenneth "Ken" Roy Bateman, a devoted husband, father, and servant of the Lord, passed away on August 27, 2024 at Virginia Beach General Hospital.
Ken had a true servant's heart and loved to serve his church and community. He was a devoted member of Riverside Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. A longtime Choir member, he was passionate about music and loved to sing. He was an FFA Alumni and former President of the NHS Band Club. He was a dedicated farmer and owned Bateman's Tree Service. Ken was an advocate for many local charities and was dedicated to helping others succeed. He never knew a stranger and was always quick to lend a helping hand.
Ken leaves behind his cherished wife of 31 years, Deanne Bennett Bateman; his dear daughters, Alyson Bateman-Bartel and husband Matthew, Emily Bateman-Ranson and husband Mack, and Amanda Brooke Bateman; grandchildren, Bentley Lane Bartel and Ally Mae Bartel; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins, all who will forever hold his memory in their hearts. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Kenneth Arlington Bateman and Affie Virginia Alexander Bateman.
A visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Twiford Memorial Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 30, 2024 at Riverside Baptist Church, 1528 Weeksville Road, Elizabeth City, NC 27909.
