Rev. Kenneth Wayne Boettcher (May 25, 1945 – June 15, 2025) The world has lost a bit of sunshine with the passing of the Rev. Ken Boettcher, who passed away peacefully on June 15, 2025, at Wellstar Tranquility Hospice at Kennesaw Mountain. Born on May 25, 1945, in Richmond, Virginia, Ken was known for his laugh, his playful spirit, his gift of song, and his ability to make even the toughest days brighter. He was the beloved husband of the late Dr. Janet Hardy Boettcher, the proud father of John (Melissa) Boettcher, and proud grandfather of Eli, Amy, Caleb, Kelly, and Kaitlyn. Ken loved Chris (Anne) Sorensen, John McKee, and William (Michelle) Ferguson, Jr. like family. Not only did Ken proudly serve in the US Navy during Vietnam, he impacted so many lives as a teacher and during decades of service as a youth minister. Rev. and Dr. Boettcher opened their loving home to many teenagers in need. Ken will be kindly remembered for his love of music, especially Neil Diamond, Harry Chapin, and Gene Pitney. He loved to travel, see Broadway shows, watch baseball games, and play card games. We will deeply miss his kind heart, passion for life, and gentleness with animals. A celebration of Ken's life will be held at a later date. Ken will be cremated and interred at the Georgia National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be made to the Radford University College of Nursing in Radford, Virginia.
