With his spirit that touched so many, it's with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Alex "Bo" Bohanon
He was Alex to his family, Bo to his friends and Bohanon to his country.
He passed suddenly on July 10, 2025 at 10:45 am at the age of 43, after a hard fought battle with heart disease complications.
He was a patient in the CVICU at University Hospital, SLC, Utah
Our humble gratitude is extended for the excellent care he received. To the doctors, nurses, and staff that were by his side through the L-Vad surgery 8 years ago, his heart transplant surgery last year and current heart failure. We thank you for the care and the love that you gave.
Alex is the son of Kenneth M and Tina Cornwell Bohanon. Alex was born in Asheville, NC and was a native of Western North Carolina, and residing in Helena,Montana
He was raised of the Baptist faith and was saved and baptized in 1999.
Bohanon, Kenneth Alexander, was a proud veteran of the United States Army.
At the age of 18, Bohanon enlisted in the Army after high School. Serving for 13 years before health complications led to early retirement. He highly valued patriotism and service to his country.
As a 13 Fox/FIST'er, he would have been a "lifer" if
medically able.
A veteran of foreign war serving three tours in Iraq and one tour in Korea.
Bohanon was the first FO soldier to utilize a drone to call fire on enemy bomb sites in Iraq. Going on to receive the prestigious honor of being featured in training videos to teach new recruits how to use the drones accurately, and precisely, saving the lives of many soldiers and civilians alike.
He received the following honors for his service to his country; Iraq Campaign Metal with five campaign stars, Army Commendation Metal, Army Good Conduct Metal, National Defense Service Metal, Global War on Terrorism Extraordinary Metal, Global War on Terrorism Service Metal, Korean Defense Service Metal, Served in a Designated Imminent Danger Area Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Ribbon.
Alex was a supporter of the second amendment and enjoyed spending time on the range.
He was also an avid Harley Davidson fan. He enjoyed riding and working on his V-Rods and was proud of making the trip on Tail of the Dragon with his Pop in Western, NC, and to Sturgis, SD with friends.
Alex is survived by his high school sweetheart, that became his loving wife of 23 years, Christina Shell Bohanon and their two beautiful children that he could not have been more proud of.
Son, William Alexander Bohanon, and daughter, Harley Marie Bohanon.
To know Alex, you would know that he loved his family with his whole heart. That Christina was the love of his life, and the "ranking officer" in his life, and he would not miss the opportunity to tell you how much he loved her and how wonderful he thought she was.
He could not say enough good things about his children. He was so proud of William and Harley and the young man and young woman that they have grown to be. He would beam with pride as he shared the stories of the accomplishments that they have made so far in their young lives.
William setting his high school record in weightlifting and his 94 score on the ASVAB and Harley playing the saxophone in the high school band and loving to go to the range with her dad.
Surviving is his service dog, the beloved German Shepherd Lexy
