Peggy Kelley Bohanon, age 88, of Somerville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born to Eugene Kelley and Cynthia Nell Thompson Kelley, Peggy grew up in Fayette County and graduated from Fayette County High School in 1955. She married the love of her life, Thomas Bohanon, Sr., on September 15, 1956, and together they built a family anchored in love, faith, and devotion.
Peggy worked as a secretary for The Fayette Falcon, Somerville's local newspaper, and later in sales at Cooksey's Department Store-work she truly enjoyed. She had a lifelong love of flowers and birds, and she cherished the simple, beautiful moments spent appreciating nature. Above all, "Peggy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Her family was the center of her world, and she poured her heart into each of them.
She leaves behind her loving children: Thomas “Butch” Bohanon, Jr. (Susan), Lisa Watson, Crystie Thompson (Albert Ray), Tracy Roberts. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Heather Roberts (devoted caregiver), Dylan Thompson, Matt Thompson, Ethan Thompson, Tyler Thompson, Beth Wallingsford, Sara Holland, Nikki Watson, and Keith Watson, as well as twenty great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense pride and joy.
Peggy is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her sister, Judy Barnett.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee-an organization dear to the family's heart.
Peggy's warmth, kindness, and unwavering love will be forever cherished by all who knew her.
