Kenneth R. “Whitey” Braun, 79, of Fond du Lac, died Saturday, October 5, 2024, at SSM Hospice Home of Hope. He was born in Fond du Lac on July 27, 1945, to Cyril and Lola (Blatz) Braun. On August 7, 1976, Whitey married Roseann “Rosie” Rowe. He was a veteran of the United States Army, and a member of United Steelworkers District 7 - Local 945, retiring from International Paper after 44 years.
Whitey enjoyed bowling, shooting trap and hunting, especially the annual hunting trip up north with the “Dotyville Bunch”. As an Olympian, he represented the “Country of Dotyville” at the sports olympics held during the early years of Walleye Weekend. Whitey coached Little League in St. Peter, was a life member of the NRA, a founding and life member of the Dotyville Hunting and Fishing Club and belonged to Abler-Engel American Legion Post 454 in Mt. Calvary.
Survivors include his wife, Rosie; son, Todd (Ginny) Braun of Oshkosh; granddaughter, Casey Braun of Germany; siblings, Bruce (Jane) Braun, Mary (Bob) Devine, and Patti Braun, all of Fond du Lac; uncle, “Fuzzy” Blatz of Fond du Lac; brother-in-law, Ron Rowe of Fond du Lac; 2 nieces; 3 step-grandchildren; and 6 step-great-grandchildren with another on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM, Thursday, October 10, 2024, at Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery, 686 Fond du Lac Ave. in Fond du Lac. Inurnment will follow the visitation accompanied by Military Funeral Honors rendered by the US Army and Abler-Engel Post 454. Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Abler-Engel Post 454 in Whitey’s memory are appreciated.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at SSM Hospice’s Home of Hope for the care given and comfort shown to Whitey.
