Robert J. Powers, 90, of Fond du Lac, died on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at his residence. He was born on July 24, 1935, in Fond du Lac, the son of Rufus and Velda (Whittlinger) Powers. Robert worked at Boeing for 10 years and as an inspector for Mercury Marine for 25 years until his retirement in 1998. He was married to Wendy Weiss for 30 plus years and had three great children, Holly, Jeffery and Lisa. During their time together many wonderful adventures happened in Renton, Washington including fishing, digging up clams on the beaches and just enjoying the wonders that the Pacific Northwest offers.
Bob married Kathryn Meyers in 1988, this union lasted for 22 years until she passed away. They enjoyed RV traveling throughout the country including Alaska to visit his daughter, spending time in Florida, reading, and time with his blended family.
Bob Powers was a handsome hard-working protector who always cared for his family. If he deemed his daughter needed protection living in Alaska, a pair of brass knuckles was her next Christmas present. Bob was a strong unstoppable force with a high level of integrity. As a father his virtues were of responsibility and protecting his loved ones.
Whether fishing on Lake Michigan or for salmon in Alaska, Bob had a deep passion for adventure. He had an affinity for adrenaline type hobbies including hunting, training dogs, fishing, racing cars, riding motorcycles, scuba diving, racoon and deer hunting. Afterwards he would share a glass of whiskey with friends.
Robert will be remembered as a man of his word, a True Grit kind of guy. He lived his life with gusto and boy did he have a great life as a hunter, boater, worker and just all-around human being! In the end the wear and tear on his body had taken its toll. May we all hold a glass of Whiskey to the sky and wish him a soft landing on his new adventure.
He is survived by his daughters Holly Powers and Lisa Aus, daughter in law Shari Powers, and six grandchildren; step-sons Randall, Duane, Kenneth, Gregory & William Meyers and step-daughters Carolyn Canopy (deceased) and Noreen Gerth; fourteen step-grandchildren and lots of step-great grandchildren; and sister Shirley Comens. He also had a wonderful friend in Princeton, Wisconsin, Peter Stoneberg. He was preceded in death by his parents Rufus and Velda, his wife Kathryn Powers, and son Jeffrey Powers.
A small celebration of life will be scheduled after the holidays. A cremation burial will be at Floral Hill Cemetery, New London, WI, at a later date.
Services are in the care of Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 North Park Avenue, Fond du Lac, WI, 54935. Additional information and guestbook can be found at ueckerwitt.com
