It is with sadness we announce the passing of Beverly Gaye Lightsey Powers. She passed peacefully on December 20, 2025, after a lengthy illness, surrounded by family. Beverly was born on March 27, 1956, to Barney and Martha Lightsey, in Odessa, TX. Her family moved to Natchez, MS., where sister, Sheila, was born. Beverly attended South Natchez High School, where she participated in several clubs, voted friendliest and played in the marching band. She earned a scholarship to the University of Mississippi for the marching band and studied accounting. She graduated with B.S. in accounting in 1978.

In 1982, Beverly married the love of her life, Stephen Powers and moved to Shreveport, La. She worked in the oil and gas and medical fields before retiring in 2016. She is preceded in death by her parents, Barney and Martha Lightsey. Beverly is survived by her husband of 43 years, Stephen Powers, of Shreveport, La., son, Michael, of Bossier City, La., and sister, Sheila, of Shreveport, La., and numerous nieces and nephews.

Beverly was a woman of faith whose strength, kindness and love touched all who knew her. She loved life and trusted god through hardships. Her presence brought comfort and warmth and will be missed deeply by all who knew her.

Beverly was an organ donor and in lieu of services, she requests donations be made to St. Judes Children Hospital.
