Mr. Kenneth George Byrd

Mr. Kenneth "Ken" George Byrd, 64, of Columbia, died on February 2, 2025, at Prisma Health Richland Hospital. Born in Cheraw, SC, he was a son of Mary Rogers Byrd-Terezakis and the late George Fate Byrd.
Ken was a proud graduate of Irmo High School, where he earned numerous athletic achievements. After graduation, he discovered a true passion for the construction industry. In his downtime, he poured his heart into playing and writing songs that were deeply meaningful to him. Kenneth was a beloved son, brother, and friend, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Though he faced many battles, he never wavered in his faith or lost hope. If he could, he would remind us all to love one another and to keep our faith strong, no matter what life brings.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his daughter, Kendra Byrd of Atlanta; brother, Jeffery Fate Byrd (Leanne) of Prosperity; partner, Margarita Byrd; nieces, Danielle Byrd and her daughter, Hailey Byrd of Irmo, and Jasmine Byrd; uncles, Forrest Byrd (Sue), and Dwight Byrd (Kathy) all of Columbia; as well as a host of additional loving family.
A memorial service will be held at 3 o'clock, Saturday, February 15th at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, SC 29223, with Bishop Anthony Blocker officiating. Visitation will be held from 2 to 3 o'clock, Saturday, February 15th at Shives Funeral Home, for family and friends to gather.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that all donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105, in loving memory of Mr. Kenneth George Byrd.
