Kenneth Wood Cliburn, Sr., age 80, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2025, in Springfield, Missouri. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and veteran, Kenneth lived a life marked by service, faith, and dedication to his family and community.
Born on September 10, 1944, in Waynesville, Missouri, Kenneth was the son of Burdette Henry Cliburn and Juanita Jane Cliburn. He graduated from Newburg High School in 1963 and later pursued theological studies at Rhema Bible Training Center in 1980. His deep commitment to his faith led him to teach Sunday School for many years, sharing his knowledge and passion with others. One of his favorite songs was "I Can Only Imagine" by MercyMe-a reflection of the hope and devotion that guided his life.
Kenneth proudly served his country as a Marine, Corporal E-4, during the Vietnam War. His military service was a defining chapter of his life and instilled in him a strong sense of discipline and honor that he carried throughout the years.
Kenneth owned and operated Water Care of the Ozarks, which he owned and operated for many years. Through this venture, he built lasting relationships within the community while providing essential services with integrity and care.
Kenneth shared sixty years of marriage with his beloved wife Bennie Cliburn. Together they raised two children: Kenneth Cliburn Jr., married to Gretchen Cliburn; and daughter Linda Divine. He was a proud grandfather to Susanne Warriner (Eli), Sara Divine, Ethan Cliburn (Aleah), Rachel Divine, and Sophia Kay Cliburn; and 4 cherished great-grandchildren whose legacy continues through the generations.
He is also remembered fondly by his brother David Cliburn (Carolyn) and many nieces and nephews who were touched by his warmth and wisdom.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; brothers James Burdette Cliburn (Helen) and Jon Marc Cliburn; and sister Ronda Lee Knight.
An avid outdoorsman, Kenneth found joy in hunting and fishing-pastimes that brought him peace and connection with nature.
A visitation to honor and celebrate Kenneth's life will take place at 9:00 AM on July 17, 2025, at Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, located at 2001 West Walnut Lawn Street, Springfield, MO 65807.
