Kenneth Cook Obituary

98-year-old Kenneth "Ken-Pap" Cook, DuBois, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at the DuBois Nursing home after a short illness.

He was born December 14, 1923, in DuBois, to the late Walter W. and Odessa L. (Kelly) Cook.

On July 29, 1944, he married Kathryn Jane (Henry) Cook. Jane preceded him in death on October 19, 2002. They celebrated 58 years of marriage together and are survived by their three children, Connie L. Crytser, Kenneth W. (Betty Lou Bithell) Cook, DuBois, and Terry L. (Denise Patton) Cook, Reynoldsville; seven grandchildren, Michael (Jen) Crytser, Kenneth W. (Kelley) Cook, Jr., Matt (Kevin) Cook, Robyn (Dwayne) Rhodes, Terry L. (Carrie) Cook, Jr., and Tracy (Reese) Burke; his great-grandchildren, Jillian Bruni-Crytser, Kara Cook, Kaci (Tyler) Yensan, Drew Cook, Isaac, Jacob, and Kendal Cook, Jennica Bowling, and Amara Burke; his sister, Sara Rosio; brother-in-law, Anthony (Marilyn) Christian; sister-in-law, Kathy (Christian) Johnson, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews and their families.

As a young man, Ken enjoyed working with the CCC in New Mexico and later served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Ken retired from Triangle Springs in 1988. He was Protestant by faith and knew the Lord.

He always enjoyed his annual hunting season and got his last buck at age 93. Ken also enjoyed traveling to Canada for fishing trips with his family and friends. He often fished with his son at Bimini Lake well into his 90s. Ken could fix anything from lawn mowers to vehicles and was considered a handyman to many. Later in life, Ken enjoyed photographing wildlife with his digital camera from his kitchen window. You may have seen some of his bear pictures posted around town; the only bears he ever shot!

In addition to his wife, parents, and many family members and friends, Ken was preceded in death by six sisters, Arlene Fridley, Maxine Marsh, Beulah "Boots" Brownell, Betty Uplinger, Margaret Burkett, and Lilly Mae Johnson, as well as an infant brother.

A Time of Remembrance will be celebrated Monday, October 3, 2022 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. from the Adamson Funeral Chapel and Crematorium. Immediately following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. from the funeral chapel with Richard Durr officiating. A private family graveside burial will follow at Morningside Cemetery.

Although flowers are appreciated, the family would ask that donations be made to the local American Cancer Society or the organization of the donor's choice.
