Kenneth "Ken " Mitchell Czachowski, born on January 4, 1941, in Chicago, IL was sent to his eternal home on July 7, 2025, in Aurora, IL.
Ken was a shining light in the lives who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more lives were touched by him. We ask that you remember him not for the way his life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents Mitchell and Florence (nee Zasada) Czachowski and late sister Barbara (nee Czachowski) Schimmel and late brother-in-law Donald K. Schimmel.
Ken is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Patricia (nee) Swiatek Czachowski and his devoted children Kimberly (Brandon) Wolf and Brian (Emily) Czachowski. He was a cherished Pa to three grandchildren Laney, William, and Nora. Ken was a dear cousin, uncle, in-law, and friend to many.
Ken was born into a tight knit Polish community in Chicago. He attended St. Stanislaus Kostka grammar school and proudly graduated from "Lane Tech" High School in 1958. Ken attended both Wright Junior College and The University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. He honorably served as a military policeman in the United States Army. Upon returning home after the service, Ken became employed with the Chicago Transit Authority ("CTA") where he began as a bus driver. With dedication and hard work, Ken ended his career as a Garage Superintendent. Ken's hobbies included playing poker with family and attending musicals and plays. Ken enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially his three grandchildren. His passion for sports became a family tradition. He shared his love of golf with those around him and coached his children in basketball, passing on not just skills, but also the joy of teamwork and perseverance. Conversations about Chicago sports, even in the toughest of seasons, were a constant source of lively debate and laughter.
Those who knew Kenneth remember him for his infectious smile, booming voice, his deep-rooted faith, and his unwavering commitment to spreading love and kindness to everyone he encountered. In times of both joy and hardship, Ken was a pillar of strength while facing every challenge with quiet dignity and steady determination that inspired all who knew him.
