Christopher Czachowski Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Norvel Owens Mortuary - Flagstaff on Dec. 27, 2022.
It is with a heavy heart to announce that Christopher Czachowski has departed planet Earth. Unexpectedly, at age 70, Chris went to his space journey on November 29th, 2022 while at the Flagstaff Medical Center ICU with his wife and daughter lovingly at his side.
Born in Memphis, Tennessee on May 27, 1952 to Alfred and Marian (Smart) Czachowski.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Margaret and daughter Amy, siblings: Ann Tucker of Illinois, John (Judy) Czachowski of Tennessee, Patricia Bondurant of Arizona, Mark (Faye) Czachowski of Georgia, Cathy (Forest) Knowles of Alabama, Christian and numerous family relations and friends. Chris is preceded in death by his parents, sister Carol, brother Stan and Paul.
Chris graduated with a MBA from Northern Arizona University. His working experience included a broad background in communications and electronics technology. Living in Flagstaff, Arizona for over 45 years, Chris excelled at many professions including W.L. Gore and Associates electronics design production technician, Coconino Community College Associate Instructor and tutor, KAXR (KNAU) FM station manager, Clear Aire
Audio technician and his electronics repair business, 'Talking Fish Technologies'. He often referred to himself as the "electron chaser.
Chris was a Veteran, who honorably served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1970-1974. He maintained and installed Radar Sonar and high power Loran transmitters, traveling extensively in Japan and Southeast Asia.
Chris met partner Dei and her young son Christian in the 1970's. For 20 years, Chris was a father figure, mentor and positive influence in Christian's life, especially during his formative years. Chris was proud to learn he is now a successful artist living in Chicago.
Chris and Margaret's romance started upon meeting at W.L. Gore and Associates in Flagstaff, Arizona. In 1995 they married in Maui, Hawaii and in 1996 welcomed their pride and joy daughter, Amy. As a family they camped and traveled extensively in the southwest, west coast, South Carolina and Michigan. Chris was a very proud "Papa" who shared a close common bond with Amy. They shared the love of reading, music, cats and the constellations. Amy will always cherish a recent memory of their 24-hour road trip to Idaho to experience the 2017 solar eclipse together. Every Father's Day for 26 years, Chris proudly wore the handmade father's day shirt embossed with Amy's tiny handprints. Chris was a supportive father being there for soccer games, violin concerts, ballet, school programs, college degrees to her current professional career as a graphic designer in Denver. Papa was Amy's best friend.
Forget the fictional Dos Exquis' Man, ask anybody who knew Chris - he was the real 'most interesting man in the world'. He could talk for hours about anything from hilarious stories to his love of the arts, science, music, museums, writing and astronomy. He loved to tell tales and make people laugh. He gave shelter to the homeless, was generous to those in need and always greeted you with a big hug. He was a voracious reader, newshound, stand-up comic, star and comet gazer, and river runner. You were lucky if you had Chris on one of the river boat trips, guaranteed to be fully entertained and enjoying delicious meals. Chris loved to cook with flair, humor and fun. His favorite cooking shows were Julia Child & Lidia Bastianich. His creative meals were always made from scratch with lots of love!
Chris will be remembered by his kindness, generosity, inventive recipes, unconditional love, quick wit, story telling, goofy ties, Hawaiian shirts, quirky antics, being the cat whisperer, big belly laughs and bear hugs.
His brother John summarized Chris best, "You were the true Renaissance man before the word became popular. Laughter carried you through some tough times and your big heart carried others through their stoney paths with a light touch. You were big brass yet kind and gentle and generous to a fault."
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Flagstaff Medical Center and Compassus Hospice for their care for Chris and family.
"May the pure light within you, guide your way on". You will remain in our hearts forever. We will miss you Papa!
If you wish to honor Chris support your local homeless shelter, animal shelter, food bank or charity of your choice.
A celebration of his life will be arranged at a later date. Please refer to Norvel Owens Mortuary in Flagstaff, Arizona for condolences and memories

To Chris"s family, I am so sorry for your loss. I met Chris when i worked at W.L.Gore through a friend and gore employee Danny McDonald who was best man at my wedding. Chris volunteered to cook a pig in a pit at Fort Tutthill where we had our reception. Chris started cooking that pig the evening before and stayed all night till it was done. I will never forget that. He was so happy and tired to serve up dinner for everyone. It made the reception. I wish I had stayed in touch but life happened . He was one of the funniest, friendliest people I have ever known and was blessed to have known him and call him a true friend. God bless his family and friends. R.I.P. Chris
