Kenneth James Daggett, 79 of Carlinville, IL, passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at Copper Creek Memory Care in Litchfield, IL.
Ken was born March 26, 1946, in Carlinville, a son of Harold "Pete" and Mildred (Engleman) Daggett. Ken graduated from Carlinville High School with the class of 1964. He married his high school sweetheart, Rebecca (Becky) Drury on November 3, 1965.
Ken worked as a manager at Friendly Chevrolet in Springfield, IL, at Crown Finance in Springfield, IL, was owner/operator of Standard City Tap in Standard City in the 1970's, and then owner/operator of The Lost Dutchman Tavern in Carlinville from 1980-2001. He was a member of the Carlinville Moose Lodge 1216 and the Rural Methodist Church. Ken loved tinkering around the farm, and enjoyed spending the majority of his time outdoors. He was an avid storyteller. His favorite pastime was sharing company with friends and family; telling stories from the many experiences he was a part of. Many joke that if you stopped to chat with Ken, you would need to have an hour of time to spare. Whether it was a new story, or one you had heard many times before, his retelling was always entertaining and enjoyable. Every conversation included a laugh as his sense of humor was unmatched. His generosity was equally unmatched, as he was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Rebecca Daggett, and his sisters, Sharon Campbell and Marilyn Barnes.
A public graveside service with burial to follow will be conducted at 10:00 am, Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Bethel Ridge Cemetery, Atwater, IL with Reverend Braden Parks presiding.
After the service, a Celebration of Life will be held at the Carlinville Moose Lodge 1216.
Ken is survived by his son, Zachary (Molly) Daggett of Carlinville, IL, daughter, Tracy Daggett of Springfield, IL, grandchildren, Emelia and Nolan Daggett, grandchild, Hayley Daggett, brother, Jon (Sue) Daggett of Atwater, IL, sister, Susie Lott of Carlinville, IL, and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Moose Club 1216.
