Kenny passed away on August 11, 2024, at Opelousas General Health System at the age of 76. He was born on July 24, 1948, in Lafayette, LA. He was raised and lived most of his life in Opelousas,LA , living his last 20 years in Sunset, LA.

On Saturday, August 17, 2024 the eulogy service will be held at 1:00 p.m. in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas, followed by a Catholic chapel service at 1:30 p.m. Father Mark Kramer will officiate the service. A gathering of family and friends will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 until time of services.

Kenny’s life was one filled with vigor and passion. He graduated from AIC in 1966 and excelled in sports, showcasing his talent in football, basketball, and especially baseball during his high school years. He further pursued his education at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches and the University of Southwestern Louisiana in Lafayette. Kenny served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War before embarking on a career. He worked as a supervisor and investigator for the Louisiana Workforce Commission for many years until his retirement. He was a parishioner at St. Charles Catholic Church in Grand Coteau, LA.

A man of many interests, Kenny was known for his athleticism, actively participating in softball, tennis, and jogging in his spare time. Having an affection for the outdoors he found great joy in fishing, a hobby he loved throughout his life. He will be remembered for his quick wit and great storytelling skills. He kept everyone who knew him entertained.

Kenny cherished moments spent with his loving wife, daughters, and grandchildren and was looking forward to one on the way. His passion for Grand Isle never faltered, stemming from loving childhood memories there with his family. He would return as often as possible.

Kenny leaves behind a legacy of love and memories cherished by many. He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Marilyn Pitre DeJean of Sunset, LA; his daughters, Shellie DeJean Albarado and husband, Chris of Leonville, LA; and Micki DeJean Beck and husband, Matt of Winter Park, FL. His presence will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Brayden and Briley Albarado, and London Beck. Kenny is also survived by his sister, Beryl DeJean of Youngsville, LA; and his brother-in-law, Scott Pitre and wife, Emily of Port Barre, LA. He will be remembered by all of his loving nieces and nephews.

Kenny was preceded in death by his father, Eddie DeJean; his mother, Anna Dugas DeJean; his father-in-law, James Pitre; and mother-in-law, Lou Richard Pitre.

Kenny Dejean's passing is deeply mourned by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. May his soul find eternal peace, surrounded by the love and cherished memories he leaves behind. Family and friends are invited to visit our website at www.lafondardoin.com.
