Obituary of Kenneth Edwards
Kenneth Edwards was born on April 7, 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri. He was the only child born to the union of Lucille and John Edwards. Ken attended high school in St. Louis and served in the Air Force for 4 years. Following his service he pursued a career in information technology.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed with Illinois Central Gulf Railroad and The Chicago Transit Authority. During his career, he served in several executive leadership positions and had a very successful career throughout his days of employment. He also lent his expertise in various consulting endeavors post his retirement years.
Ken departed this earthly life on Friday, April 26, 2024, at age 82. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lucille and his father, John.
Ken will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He loved gathering with his people, listening to good jazz, enjoying a quality scotch whiskey and sharing stories. His passion for knowledge was contagious with everyone around him. He was a provider, a class act, and family meant the world to him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Camille; his children Kenneth Edwards Jr (Leah), April Edwards (Craig), Andrew Riley (Lori) and his special daughter Rochelle DeMoss; his grandchildren Ashton Edwards, Tyrese Edwards, Aaron Edwards, Brennan Riley, Devan Riley and Sydney Riley; and his great grandchild Lyric Grace Edwards. He loved them all dearly.
There will be a Celebration of Life gathering at Cremation Society of Minnesota on Sunday, May 5 from 12:00pm – 2:00pm, (4343 Nicollet Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55409) and another celebration this summer in St. Louis, MO where he has many cousins and extended family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to PAWS Chicago at https://www.pawschicago.org/ or to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals at https://www.aspca.org/ are greatly appreciated.
Dear Daddy,
I will never feel that we had enough time on this earth together but I understand it was God's time. I will miss your voice, advice, wisdom, laugh, conversation, hugs and kisses and love. There can never be enough words in the dictionary to describe how much I love you. You are the epitome of class and black excellence and have touched all those around you in one way or another. I hope you were proud of me and knew how much I was so proud to call you my daddy. My world will never be the same without you and we will meet again in our next life.
Love your baby girl, April
Dear Dad
For many years I remember it was just me and you daddy. The trips we took, the good times we had will always linger in my heart and mind. I am so proud to be your son. The lessons you bestowed upon me were life changing. Those lessons will always be a part of me forever. My love of jazz and fashion have been ingrained in me since I was a little boy. I get it from my daddy! I have always looked up to you as my hero. I appreciate all the time that we had together and the love and care you have shown me over the years. You will forever live in my heart and I will always love you.
Love your son, Ken Jr.
Dear Grandpa,
I want to thank you for giving me advice and wisdom on how to be a young man. Thank you for showing me and teaching me the right way of doing things. I will miss our conversations. Thank you for introducing me to the good ole cowboy and Bruce Lee movies.
Love, Aaron
