Kenneth A. Ely

Kenneth Albert Ely, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away on June 25, 2024, at the age of 87.
Ken was born on February 17, 1937 in Northbrook, IL, to Chester and Mabel Ely. He served in the Army to defend his country, and graduated from the Chicago Art Institute with a degree in graphic art. He married Roberta (Bobbi) Brandel in 1969, and they had two children: Christine and Wendy. He worked as a graphic artist for over 30 years and was extremely creative and talented. Ken was an incredible husband, father and grandfather who loved to sketch with a #2 pencil, read political books, cheer on the Chicago Cubs, and discuss current events every Thursday with his cherished group of friends. Ken was unforgettable to anyone who met him, not only because of his tall stature, but for his friendly smile, gentle heart and his love of dogs. He was known for many things, but most importantly for the love and support he offered his family.
Ken is survived by his wife, Bobbi; his children, Chris (Tim Wendler) and Wendy (Tracy Lick) and his only grandchild, Josie Wendler (Tyler Weinberger). He is preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Mabel and his brother, Melvin. Per Ken's request, no memorial service will be held and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local Humane Society and/or Hospice.
