Beloved brothers and sisters, today we gather not in sorrow, but in celebration of the life of a true servant of the Lord, Kenneth P. Ensell, known affectionately to us all as Ken. Born into this world on the 4th of September, 1946, in India, Ken embarked on his heavenly journey to be with our Creator on the 26th of June, 2024, peacefully in his home in
Austin, Texas. Ken lived a life that was a testament to the virtues of kindness, faith, and generosity.
Ken was the cherished son of Laurence and Margaret Ensell, who, alongside his devoted sister, Joyce Oakley, have previously been called home to the Lord's embrace. His legacy of love continues through his beloved wife Cynthia, his son Ian Ensell married to Vanessa, and his daughter Nicole Ensell. Ken's family circle was lovingly completed by his step-sons Jimmy Olivares with Tanya Gomez, and Dominic Olivares married to Maurisha. Ken's children blessed him with many adoring grandchildren - Jaylah, Mila, Kara, Liam, Aubrey, Donavin, Sophia Isabella, Jacob, Leslie, and Michael.
Brothers and sisters, Ken was a man who built his life upon the rock of hard work and service, exemplified by his distinguished career as an engineer and his honorable tenure in the British Armed Forces. His hands, though skilled in the intricacies of his craft, were always quick to help a neighbor, to build up rather than tear down, to offer a clap of encouragement or a handshake of peace.
Ken's heart sang with the joy of music, the thrill of soccer, critiquing Indian food, and most of all, the love of spending precious time with his family. He nurtured the roots of his family tree with the gentleness of a summer breeze, the steadfastness of the mountain, and the warmth of the morning sun.
A gentle soul, Ken walked through this life with a faith that was as unwavering as it was profound. He was a generous man, not only with his resources but with his spirit. He gave of himself without expecting anything in return, for he knew that "it is more blessed to give than to receive," as the good Apostle Paul tells us in Acts 20:35.
Ken's generosity of spirit was a mirror of his faith. He was a faith-filled man, living a life in service to the God he loved. His gentle presence was a balm to troubled souls, his wise words a lantern in the darkness. He knew that this earthly journey was but a passageway to an eternal home, a place he prepared for with each act of kindness, each prayer whispered, each moment spent in the company of his loved ones.
Brothers and sisters, as we commit our dear Ken to the Lord's loving arms, let us carry forward the light he has left in our hearts. May we honor his memory by living as he did - with gentle hearts, faith-filled souls, and generous hands. Ken's life was a gospel his actions a psalm, his love a prayer.
And so, we say farewell to Kenneth P. Ensell, a man of God, a beacon of love, and a pillar of strength. As it is written, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant... enter thou into the joy of thy lord" (Matthew 25:21). Ken, go forth from this world in peace, and may you find eternal rest in the embrace of the Almighty. Amen.
Service will be held at 10am on July 24, 2024 at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 10000 David Moore Dr,
