Church Point, LA: Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at Point Church in Church Point, LA for Mr. Kenneth Sebastian Gianfala, 82, who passed away at 2:05 AM Friday, October 27, 2023 at Acadia-St. Landry Hospital in Church Point. Bishop Rick Pavlu and Lead Pastor Jared Pavlu will conduct the funeral services with burial following in the First Baptist Cemetery on Hwy 35 North of Church Point.
Kenneth, a life-long resident of Church Point, was the son of the late Sebastian Gianfala and the former Alice Bernard. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Shirlene B. Gianfala of Church Point; one daughter, Pauline Gianfala of Houston, TX; two sons, Quinn Gianfala and wife Susan of Church Point and Leonard Gianfala and wife Ying of Katy, TX; his grandchildren: Sebastian and Luke Gianfala, Lydia Daigle Moreau and husband Brooks and Janie Daigle and husband Dakota; his great-grandchildren: Landon, Emmitt, Vivian, Adeline, Ace and Dean; a sister, Pam Hebert and husband Louis of Breaux Bridge, LA and a sister-in-law, Jackie Gianfala. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Byron Gianfala and a niece, DiGi Gianfala.
Kenneth Gianfala was a loving husband, father and friend, well respected for his loyalty, compassion, kindness and gentle strength. He was Vice President and Secretary Treasurer of Gianfala and Son, Inc. Founded by his grandfather, Vito Gianfala and father, Sebastian "Subby" Gianfala in 1939; it is the oldest owned and operated oilfield construction company in South LA. A business leader in the Church Point community, he exemplified excellence in the way he worked and lived. He had a passion for the outdoors, enjoying fishing, duck hunting and dove hunting with those he was closest to. He always enjoyed trading stories with other hunters or fishermen, as well as sharing a meal over an LSU football game. Kenneth was a pillar of Point Church, formerly First United Pentecostal Church of Church Point, having served on the Board of Trustees in the position of Secretary Treasurer from prior to 1980 until the time of his passing. Through the years, he served as Sunday School Superintendent and Song Leader. There is no replacing a man of such dignity, humility and love. He will be forever missed by all those whose lives he impacted by just being the man he was. His love for his God, family, church and community will never be forgotten.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Point Church on Tuesday, October 31, from 9:00 AM until the time of the services at 2:00 PM. Personal condolences may be sent to the Gianfala family at www.guidryfuneralhome.com. Guidry Funeral Home, 219 N. Broadway St., Church Point, LA is in charge of final arrangements.
