Kenneth James Gundersen Sr

Kenneth J. Gundersen, Sr., age 82, of Pensacola, Florida, passed away February 21, 2024. He was born in Pensacola, Florida on October 6, 1941 to George Gundersen and Laura Francis Gingles. He was married to Dorothy E. "Libby" Orthwein for 45 years. Ken worked as a Chemical Technician at Monsanto/Solutia until retirement. He was a faithful member of the Heritage Baptist Church of Pensacola, serving as trustee for many years. He enjoyed fishing and working with wood projects, eventually building a cottage in Arkansas which he enjoyed for 20 years.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, George and Laura Gundersen; and his brother, George Gundersen.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Libby; his daughter, Karen Marie Gundersen; his son, Kenneth J. Gundersen; brother, Richard C. Gundersen; six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Services for Kenneth J. Gundersen will be held Monday, March 4, 2024 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South. The family will receive friends for visitation at 11:30 AM. Funeral services will begin at 12:30 PM. Ken will be laid to rest at Barrancas National Cemetery.
Pallbearers include his friends, James Noel Hale III, Gary Lee Roland, Nathan Van Etten, Paul A. Wilson, and his family, George Michael Gundersen, and Bradley Michael Gundersen.
