Funeral services for Mr. Kenneth W. "Ken" Hakes will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 27, 2025, in the Chapel of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, with Reverend Blaine Ussery officiating. Interment will follow in Wise Chapel Cemetery, Ruby, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville.
Mr. Hakes, 90, of Pineville, left us to be with his Lord on Monday, June 23, 2025, after a brief illness. He was born June 18, 1935, in Chenango Bridge, New York. He was proud to have just celebrated his ninetieth year. At the age of seventeen, Ken joined the U.S. Airforce and was stationed at England Air Force Base in Alexandria, Louisiana. This is when he met the love of his life, Yvonne. Together they shared fifty-three years of marriage.
Fishing was Ken's favorite past time. He loved spending weekends at the camp on Spring Bayou barbecuing for Sunday afternoon pool time with family. He also enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and he was always tinkering on something; he was a jack of all trades. Ken worked thirty-three years at International Paper Company before retiring.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne Hakes; one granddaughter, Jennifer Rine; and one brother, Donald Hakes.
Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory include his two sons, Michael Hakes (Cathy) and Billy Hakes (Jan); three daughters, Susan Crooks, Sandra Rine (Clint), and Karen Moulder; seven grandchildren, Jason Hakes, Matt Hakes, Marcee Bordelon, Chris Crooks, Ashley Dennard, Lauran Moulder, and Megan Murdoch; and eleven great grandchildren.
A time of visitation will be held at Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, on Thursday, June 26, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Visitation will resume in the Chapel of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, on Friday, June 27, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are: L.C Bourn, Mike Couvillion, Jason Hakes, Matt Hakes, Eugene Stokes, and Clint Rine. Honorary pallbearers will be Bo Nalley and Christopher Crooks.
