Kenneth Houk Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hillcrest Funeral Home - Littlefield on Oct. 13, 2025.
Kenneth Gordon Houk, 85, entered heavens gates on October 13, 2025, in Lubbock, Texas.

Kenneth was born on October 16, 1939, in Littlefield, Texas to Max Gordon and Forest Robison Houk. He graduated from Littlefield High School with the Class of 1958, but also attended Sudan and Olton High Schools. He married Janet Simpkins on April 7, 1962, in Littlefield. They have two children, Denise Albus and Greg Houk. He served our country in the military for a short time and retired from Amaco after 31 years of service.

In June of 2025, he was retired for 32 years, so he was retired longer than he worked. He loved going to car shows, vacations, and in his younger days, to the lake to ski. Kenneth was most happy at his shop or with family "tinkering" on anything he could find. Even in his final days he was working on cars and taking care of family.

He is preceded in death by his parents Max and Forest Houk, a sister Judy Kirchdorfer, brother Richard Houk, and sister-in-law Glenda Young.

He is survived by his wife Janet Houk of Littlefield, Texas; one daughter, Denise Albus and husband Shane of Littlefield, Texas; one son, Greg Houk of Littlefield, Texas; grandson, Brandon Albus and wife Kelsie of Sudan, Texas; one brother, Howard "Bud" Houk and wife Myreta of San Angelo, Texas; brother-in-law, Jimmy Young of Amherst, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, car club friends, and family.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Crescent Park Church of Christ in Littlefield, Texas. Interment will follow in Littlefield Memorial Park. On Wednesday, October 15, 2025, the family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Littlefield EMS at P.O. Box 1267, Littlefield, Texas 79339 and to Lamb County 4-H Adult Leaders at 100 6th Dr RM B5, Littlefield, Texas 79339. Arrangements are under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield, Texas.
