Kenneth Johnson, 66, of McCormick, SC, died Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at his home. He was born in McCormick to the late Joseph Oscar and Lillie Mae Jackson Johnson. Kenneth embraced life with an unwavering spirit and a compassionate heart.
A proud graduate of Mims High School, Mr. Johnson served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a true embodiment of dedication and generosity, always reaching out to lend a helping hand to those in need. His professional journey saw him spend many years as a logger with Hanna Brothers Logging Company, where his hard work and commitment were well regarded. Outside of work, Kenneth cherished simple pleasures: fishing, cutting grass, and being a reliable handyman for family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and William Johnson.
Kenneth’s legacy continues through his loving family. His son, Kendrick Johnson of Greenwood, SC; his wife, Sharron Wright Johnson of Greenwood; his cherished partner, Sabrina Wharton of the home; five beloved grandchildren, Riley Brown, Nyla Ruff, Jamita Johnson, Tyrell Johnson, and Trinity Johnson; step-daughter, Tina Wright of Greer, SC; three sisters, Josephine Duncan of Troy, SC, Kitty Tucker, and Cindy Price (Ernest) of McCormick, SC; three brothers, William Johnson, Jr. (Janie) of Greenwood, SC, Roosevelt Johnson of Augusta, GA, and Joseph Johnson (Dot Bryson) of Abbeville, SC.; Additionally, he treasured his niece and nephew, Zaire Duncan and Michael Tucker (Queenie Wideman) of McCormick, together with a multitude of other nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. He is also survived by four brothers-in-law, Freddie Wright and Robert Wright, both of Greenwood, SC, Maxie Wright of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Frank Wright of Fayetteville, NC; and a sister-in-law, Brenda Wright of Greenwood, SC.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 22, 2025, from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at Harris Funeral Home, 302 N. Main St. Abbeville, SC 29620. Graveside services will be 1:00PM, Saturday, August 23, 2025, in the St. Goodwill Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors.
The family is at the home.
