Kenneth Kahn Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dorman-Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home on Mar. 4, 2026.
Kenneth "Ken" Rodger Kahn, Sr., age 83, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026, in Longville, Louisiana. Born on October 28, 1942, in Houston, Texas, Ken was the eldest of eight children born to George and Viola Kahn. After moving from Texas to California, the family settled in Deridder, Louisiana, where Ken spent most of his adolescence. A man of faith and simplicity, Ken found joy in life's quieter moments. He loved song - whether listening to the birds or singing along to his favorite hymns.
Ken's life was marked by hard work, devotion to family, and a quiet strength that inspired all who knew him. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. As a young man, he drove a milk truck and picked up milk from dairies: a job that not only shaped his early career but also led him to meet the love of his life, Iva. Ken later worked as a sheet metal worker before transitioning into trucking in his later years.
Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Iva (Beaver) Kahn; his children: Kenneth (Blue) Kahn Jr. & Cindy, Kimberly Miller & Brian, Joy Joyner & Jeff, and Daniel Bowden. He also leaves behind his siblings: Alfreda Classen, Sidney Kahn & Joan, Jimmy Kahn & Joanne, Leland Kahn & Thelma, and Steve Kahn; as well as his grandchildren: Heather Kahn, Kenzey Adcox & Chris, Kaitlyn Miller, Kaillie Martinez & Ryan, Ashtynn Kelley, Hunter Kahn, Hallee Bowden, James Bowden, Braden Lewis, Dylan Sherman & Hannah, and Lanna Brown & Michael; ten great-grandchildren; and a wealth of nieces, nephews, family and friends who meant the world to him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Viola Kahn; his brother Stanley Kahn; and his sister Margaret Jantzen.
Ken's legacy is one of steadfast love for his family, faith in God, and an enduring generosity that knew no limits. He was a man who treated everyone like family; if you ever had the privilege to meet him, you knew he was "Ken" to you.
Special thanks to Riah, Sherie, Michelle, and Allegiance Healthcare for their kindness, guidance, and support.
Pallbearers will be Chris Adcox, James Bowden, Brett Busby, Derek Classen, Henry Classen, and Ryan Martinez.
Family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 6, 2026, with the funeral service being held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Highland Mennonite Church, 171 Mennonite Church Loop, DeRidder, Louisiana. Interment to follow at Highland Mennonite Cemetery. DeRidder, Louisiana.
