Kenneth Marsh Killer, 82, of Waterbury CT, passed away on January 21, 2023 at Hartford Hospital in Hartford CT.

Ken was born January 6, 1941 in Norwalk CT. He was the eldest of two sons born to Kenneth and Bertha Killer. He was a graduate of The Cheshire Academy and later attended college at the University of Virginia, and earned his undergraduate and Masters Degree(s) at the University of Hartford.

Known simply and lovingly as "Killer", Ken was a prominent and highly respected Biology teacher at Wilby High School from 1963 to 1998. The impact and impressions he made on the lives of those he worked with and the students that he taught have lasted generations. Ken embodied what it is to be an educator, mentor and friend. He was known for having an open-door policy for any student looking for help - whether they were working on a college application, reviewing a paper, or seeking guidance in their lives. His love, laughter, sense of humor, passion and dedication was present in all aspects of his life. He became the dept chair head of the science dept, and taught photography. Ken also served (no pun intended) as the Wilby Girls Tennis Team coach for many years and taught adult education night school at Mattatuck Community College. During the summers Ken held many jobs including Tennis Pro at the Waterbury Country Club, and was the full-time manager at The Cheshire Racquet Club and the Roller Room.

Ken was well known for his community involvement and was actively involved with the Waterbury historical buildings, Mardi Gross Halloween Festival in Waterbury as well and others. His passions included collecting antique toys, and woodworking. He was best known for his Christmas Ornaments that he hand cut on scroll saws from Christmas Trees that he would collect after the holidays. His ornaments became his passion and were sold and donated throughout New England at local craft fairs as well as the Wolf Conservation Center in South Salem, NY and Southwest Wildlife in Arizona. Ken's ornaments now proudly adorne thousands of homes. He looked forward to his lunches at the John Bale Book Co. & Cafe, where he was a long-standing member of the Square Table Club. This time spent meeting with friends and colleagues, discussing a wide variety of topics had become a highlight of his daily routine.

Ken is survived by his brother Philips Killer, son Craig Killer (Shawna Starr) of Washington; daughter Katherine Killer (Daniel Biernacki) of Meriden CT, son Kenneth Killer (Jennifer) of Virginia, step son Eric Anderson (Lisa) of Cheshire CT. His grandchildren Richard Killer (Erika), Jayce Davis (Amanda), Elise Killer-Migliore (Tristan Migliore), Karl Killer, Nina Kischkum, Alyssa and Isabella Killer. Great grandchildren Emma and Ella Killer, Sagan and Alexandria Anderson and his Step grandchildren Kelsea Giglio (Joey) Taylor and Logan Starr . He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Ken was predeceased by his wife Brenda, and daughters Christine Killer, Karen Killer and first wife Linda W Ryan. Ken also leaves behind a vast network of close friends, and former students that he considered family.

Family and friends may gather at the Alderson-Ford Funeral of Cheshire 615 South Main Street on Saturday January 28, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Words of remembrance will begin at 3:00 p.m.

Mr Killer was my biology teacher in Wilby high school. When I think back to the quality education that I received his is the face that comes to my mind first. He was a great teacher, a great communicator and a great friend. He made learning fun. We remained friends over the next 45 years. He spent his life making this world a better place. There's no telling how many students he touched and what great things he inspired us all to do. He will be missed

Killer taught me chemistry, tennis and life lessons. Although I was different in a lot of ways, he taught to me to believe in myself and to trust others until they gave me reasons not to. Killer taught me confidence, competitiveness, open mindedness and compassion. Much love Mr K and God bless your family

I will always remember my mentor, friend and confidant. Killer was the teacher in my life that inspired me to be the person and successful professional I am today. He made the awkward years bearable. He inspired me to take the leap of faith in all aspects of my life. I was so fortunate to grow up with his family as a babysitter for the kids. Linda was always so kind to me. My husband and I met at Wilby and will always be grateful for his kindness.
With much love,
