Kenneth B. Koestel, 101, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2022, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, Kansas.
Kenneth was born on January 3, 1921, in Arlington, Kansas, the son of John Peter and Beulah May (Breeze) Koestel Jr. On December 27, 1976, he married Mavis M. Cannon, after a 1 month courtship. They shared 38 years of marriage prior to her death on December 17, 2014.
Kenneth graduated from Arlington High School, Arlington, Kansas. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving from 1944 to 1946, when he was honorably discharged after serving in World War II. Kenneth was the co-owner and manager for Pella Products, Inc. and retired in 1984.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mavis Koestel; a brother, Vincent Koestel; and three sisters, Esther Smalley, Corinne Gibson and Velma Hipp. Kenneth is survived by his five children, Gary (Susan) Koestel, Cindy Koestel, Kim (Chris) Humiston, all of Hutchinson, Janet (Daniel) Mora of Liberty Township, Ohio, and Pam (Craig) Hietmann of Richardson, Texas; three step- children, Steve (Diane) Cannon of Hutchinson, Greg (Debbie) Cannon of Maize and Chris (Kathy) Cannon of Hutchinson; 20 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren and two great- great grandchildren. Cremation is planned. A private graveside inurnment service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Reno County in care of Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave. Hutchinson, KS. 67502.
